Yo.

Guess I've learned.  And here's what I've done tonight:

The long pause before posting.

LOOOONG.

And I should be writing papers, but really quick:

Still on First Sock.  Yep.  But we're on the leg now, so whatever.
Working on something secret for Trina, and hopefully a second secret soon.
And the "Star-Cross'd Love" (go search for the star-crossed cardi on anthro) is plugging along, but I'm not so sure anymore.  C2B looks a little undefined in doubled worsted... Chunky might look better.

So, on my cbc journal ([info]cajunbatchick), i am friended to [info]moocards, which took me to (eventually) this flickr pic, which took me to this awesome bracelet.

I also found a pretty rockin' colo(u)r site.

Months ago, I used to stare at a certain tutorial as a kind of "hey, that's pretty" thing. This wonderful thing calmed me, called to me even. I thought, "Hey, dk socks. It totally makes sense, and I could do that."

And then, in the fit of the honeymoon socks, I forgot all about magic socks knitting.

That is, until ravelry showed me its awesome-ness. When you browse patterns, there's a neat sidebar that lets you start paring down until you find more of what you're looking for. I think I had it set to "free pattern," "only with photos," "sock," "five-star," "fingering weight" yarn - and something like 62 patterns were left.

Including those "Extreme 2-in-1 socks" that I love to stare at.

big love for Ravelry.

Awesome email today:

Hey there,

frecklegirl has invited you to Ravelry!
"Here you go! Thanks for your interest in our little site.
Let me know if you have any questions or problems!

Jess

How cool is that?

(ravelry.com is a pretty awesome site - you can enter your projects; upload pics of works, yarn, etc. from your flickr account; check out other people's works in progress; find patterns, people, groups, etc...)

Nova. That second sock of hers? Shibui sock yarn, available at Knit-Purl.

Why is this temptation? There's a little colorway they like to call Roppongi. Anyone unfamiliar with my crazy manga/anime ways would be best informed by a quick trip to furinkan.com, where you can learn all about Maison Ikkoku, and the lovely Akemi Roppongi in particular. She drinks, she parties, she's a redhead. What more can I say?

So for me, a sock yarn named Roppongi (which means "six trees" and is also a district in Tokyo, according to furinkan.com) in bright pinks with some orange is oh-so-fitting.

The 80s kid in me is also tugging my sleeve and pointing at the bright bright brightness of those colors. Total l-o-v-e.

On top of that, after looking at Knit-Purl, I think I could use some legwarmers in this, even if it's not maroon...

So, to date we have:

1 toe and 32 rounds of the pomatomus chart B in Lorna's Laces shepherd sock: Lakeview
6 or 7 repeats of an LSU PoA scarf in Caron Soft: bright purple and yellow
Part of a lace baby blanket from a 1987 or so Susan Bates Fairytales pattern book (my grandmother's book), of which I need to undo a few rows, in Lion Brand Pound of Love: Bubblegum Pink
Part 1 and 80+ rows of part 2 for the Ashley blanket (big A traced onto knitting graph paper)
16 inches of k1 p1 ribbing (which was supposed to be legwarmers from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, which I bought for $10 something on amazon with Knitting Nature, although it's now cheaper to buy them separately (the set together for amazon is now $50+, whereas separately, they're about $30 something) which may end up undone and turned into a shrug ('cause I'm going to want maroon legwarmers too) in Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb: Ravenwood? (blue, green, pink, lavender)

Too many UFOs (which include sweaters, which are on hold currently. I have sweater issues to figure out first.)

Bookwise, I have
Knitting Nature
Last Minute Knitted Gifts
Charmed Knits
Stitch and Bitch Nation (3.19 right now at amazon?!)
Stitch and Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker
a $6 bargain book bought from the Union bookstore (your basic "here are stitches, here's how to do things, get patterns elsewhere" type of thing)
and returned: Victorian Lace Today (all collars, scarfs, etc. When I ordered, I thought I was going for Lace Style. My bad.)

So yeah. Knitting. Without pictures :( but hopefully we'll fix that soon.

I've been meaning to start a knitting journal for some time as a way for me to keep track of projects and patterns knit.

A combination of ravelry and sad news made me do it today.

LSU's mascot, Mike V died. They were just starting his retirement phases. It's not the worst news ever, but it is kind of sad. So, although this would have been cbc_knits, it's now lsu_tiger_knits in honor of Mike V.
